- aghhh, well he blessed your life then for 21 years, that is truly a gift! The big ole striped dun gelding i have; well he is my God horse i call him. he makes me laugh every day! he has got the silliest personality! and so kind & loving! he is 10 yrs. i will keep him safe & sound till he leaves this earth. the reason i call him my God horse is because when ever lifes seems to get me down; i get on him & everything just looks better from atop his back! lol he is my love. i guess he owns me! Willow we have only had for about a month now. she is definitely a work in progress. but she has a sweetness to her that i was able to see through her raring & bad behavior. she wasnt broke & after working with her for a month now. today was our fifth time in the saddle. i cantered her for the first time! she is going to be a good little horse. im planning to use her for barrels, but i think she would be a great reining-cutting prospect. ive never done it before but would love to give it a try.

His trust in me, I’ll take time to earn.
He’ll not be just a toy that I can afford,
that I forget, except to pay board.
I’ll see to his needs day in and day out,
not leaving him in his stall to sulk and pout.
I know that I own him but he too owns me,
I’m responsible to keep him happy and healthy.
He is not a burden, but a lifelong friend.
Not one I’ll abandon when his life nears its end.
It was my choice, not his, to have a horse
With that choice his life should be better, not worse.
I’ll not ship him off when he’s too old to ride,
finding excuses and reasons behind which to hide.
Like marriage it is meant to last, not end in divorce.
For divorce often means the death of the horse.
It is more like a child, the purchase a birth,
a being to care for, a life that has worth.
I acknowledge this commitment with honor and pride,
I’ll care for this horse, he’s not just something to ride.
If the day ever comes, my promise I can’t fullfill,
I’ll see that he is placed with someone who will.
